Career profile

Player biography

Philipp Grubauer made his NHL debut with the Washington Capitals in 2013. He developed into one of the most successful German goaltenders in league history. He won the Stanley Cup with Washington in 2018. Later that year, he was traded to the Colorado Avalanche. There, he became a starter and finished as a Vezina Trophy finalist in 2020–21.

Grubauer joined the Seattle Kraken as an unrestricted free agent in July 2021. He signed a six-year contract ahead of the franchise’s inaugural season. After a difficult 2024–25 campaign, he rebounded strongly in 2025–26. He remained with Seattle entering the final year of that contract.
