NicoSturm

Nico Sturm reached the NHL as an undrafted free agent after developing through college hockey in the United States. He signed with the Minnesota Wild in 2019 and established himself as a dependable bottom-six center. Sturm later joined the Colorado Avalanche and won the Stanley Cup in 2022. His faceoff work, defensive responsibility and penalty killing became key parts of his NHL role.

Later, Sturm spent three seasons with the San Jose Sharks. In March 2025, San Jose traded him to the Florida Panthers. Florida won the Stanley Cup that spring, giving Sturm his second championship. He then returned to Minnesota in July 2025 on a two-year contract. In addition, Sturm helped Germany win silver at the 2023 IIHF World Championship. He also represented the country at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. His career shows how a specialized, reliable role can create long-term value at the NHL level.
