Player biography

Marcel Goc built a long NHL career as a dependable two-way center. The San Jose Sharks selected him 20th overall in the 2001 NHL Draft. He made his NHL debut with San Jose in 2005 and later played for Nashville, Florida, Pittsburgh and St. Louis. Goc was valued for his defensive awareness, faceoff work and ability to contribute in different roles. His best offensive NHL season came with Nashville in 2009–10, when he recorded 30 points.

Across ten NHL seasons, Goc appeared in 636 regular-season games and added 63 playoff appearances. He also became an important leader for the German national team. In 2018, he captained Germany during its historic run to the Olympic silver medal in PyeongChang. Goc finished his playing career with Adler Mannheim in 2020. Afterward, he moved into coaching and player development with the club. By 2026, he was serving as an assistant coach for Adler Mannheim while continuing his development work. His career combined NHL longevity, international leadership and a strong reputation as a responsible all-around forward.
