TanjaEisenschmid

Tanja Eisenschmid has been one of the experienced defenders in German women’s ice hockey. The Marktoberdorf native played college hockey at the University of North Dakota. Afterward, she continued her career in North America and Europe. Her club path included the Minnesota Whitecaps, ERC Ingolstadt and Djurgården. After returning to Germany, she joined ESC Kempten in 2023. Eisenschmid combined defensive responsibility with the ability to contribute offensively from the blue line.

In addition, Eisenschmid represented Germany at numerous IIHF tournaments and Olympic qualification events. She was part of the German team at several Women’s World Championships and became a long-serving national-team defender. During the 2021–22 DFEL season, she finished as the league’s highest-scoring defenseman while playing for ERC Ingolstadt. Her career has connected college hockey, European club competition and extensive international experience. Together with her siblings Markus and Nicola, she is also part of one of Germany’s best-known hockey families.
