Tim Stützle entered the NHL as one of the highest-drafted German players in history. The Ottawa Senators selected him third overall in the 2020 NHL Draft after his breakout season with Adler Mannheim. Stützle moved directly into Ottawa’s lineup and quickly developed into a creative top-line forward. His speed, puck control and playmaking ability made him one of the central players in the Senators’ long-term plans.

Stützle has also become an important part of Germany’s national team. He represented the country at the World Junior Championship and later at senior international tournaments. In 2026, he made his Olympic debut in Milano Cortina and served as an alternate captain for Germany. He scored twice in the opening win against Denmark and played a major offensive role during the tournament. With Ottawa, Stützle has continued to take on greater responsibility in both scoring and playmaking situations. His development has placed him among the leading German NHL players of his generation.
