Lukas Reichel

Lukas Reichel is a German professional ice hockey forward currently playing in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on May 17, 2002, in Nuremberg, Germany, he comes from a family with deep hockey roots. His father, Martin Reichel, played professionally in Germany. Meanwhile, his uncle, Robert Reichel, enjoyed a long NHL career and represented the Czech Republic internationally.

Reichel began his hockey journey with Starbulls Rosenheim before joining the Eisbären Berlin organization. There, he developed into one of Germany’s most promising young forwards. His speed, vision, and offensive creativity quickly attracted attention from scouts across Europe and North America.

During the 2020–21 DEL season, Reichel helped Eisbären Berlin win the German Championship. As a result, his draft stock continued to rise. Later that year, the Chicago Blackhawks selected him 17th overall in the first round of the 2020 NHL Draft. This made him one of the highest-drafted German players of his class.

After arriving in North America, Reichel spent time with the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League (AHL). There, he adjusted to the faster pace and more physical style of play. Eventually, he made his NHL debut in January 2022. Since then, he has moved between the NHL and AHL while continuing his development.

In addition to his club career, Reichel has represented Germany at several international tournaments. He has appeared at the IIHF World Championship and gained valuable experience against elite competition. Although he has not yet become one of Germany’s established NHL stars, he remains an important part of the country’s next generation of talent.

Today, Lukas Reichel is viewed as a skilled young forward with considerable upside. His playmaking ability and skating continue to stand out. At the same time, consistency remains an important area for improvement. If his development continues in the right direction, he has the potential to become a reliable NHL player for many years while making meaningful contributions to German hockey on the international stage.
