Player biography
JJ Peterka emerged from Munich’s development system as one of Germany’s most dynamic young forwards. The Buffalo Sabres selected him 34th overall in the second round of the 2020 NHL Draft. After one AHL season, Peterka established himself in Buffalo’s NHL lineup with his speed, shot and direct attacking style. He also became an important player for Germany. At the 2023 IIHF World Championship, he earned tournament honors while Germany won the silver medal.
Peterka recorded a career-high 68 points with Buffalo in 2024–25 before moving to the Utah Mammoth. He spent the 2025–26 season in Utah and also represented Germany at the 2026 Olympic Winter Games. In June 2026, the Boston Bruins acquired Peterka in a trade for two first-round draft picks. The move gave him a new role in Boston entering the 2026–27 season. His pace, scoring ability and international experience now place him among the leading German forwards of his generation.
